BLB LAW FIRM APPOINTS A NEW OF COUNSEL: PROFESSOR PAOLO GALDIERI HEADS THE DIGITAL CRIME DEPARTMENT

Professor Paolo Galdieri joins the Law Firm as of Counsel.

BLB Law Firm has a relevant expertise in many fields of law of fundamental importance for the SMEs, both start-ups and bigger sized companies.

Professor Galdieri completes the BLB team and will be the head of the new department specialized in Cyber Crimes, Computer Forensics, Cyber Security and Cyber Warfare.

The Computer Forensics department offers technical and legal assistance, both judicial and extra-judicial, in the emerging sector of digital crime otherwise known as the phenomenon of illegality connected to the modern communication technologies - internet, social networks, cyberspace - such as online defamation, frauds in online banking services, phishing, identity theft, privacy violations, copyright infringement, the spread of child pornography and child grooming, cyber-terrorism and cyber-money laundering.

Concerning mainly companies - more frequently subjected to data, blackmail and digital extortion – legal assistance provided by Professor Galdieri also applies to the Cyber Security sector, i.e. the set of technologies, programs and processes designed to protect computers and computer networks, in addition to Digital Forensics, whose purpose is to identify, collect, preserve and evaluate - mainly for trial purposes - information in computers, mobile devices (mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, etc.) and in IT systems in general.

The law firm also provides advice and training for the military and institutions in the field of Cyber Warfare, that is, the set of activities characterized by the use of electronic and information technology and telecommunication, aimed at intercepting, altering and destroying information and "enemy" communications systems.

Finally, the precious addition of Professor Paolo Galdieri will enable BLB to provide legal assistance on behalf of those who, operating in the IT market, are more often subjected to the increasingly strict regulatory obligations from the antitrust discipline and privacy protection legislation. Professor Galdieri’s entrance expands the law firm competences in the field of criminal law with particular reference to company’s crimes.

Paolo Galdieri obtained his Phd with the assistance and supervision of Professor Aldo Casalinuovo and Professor Vittorio Frosini who is considered to be the founder of Cyber Law in Italy. Currently Professor of Cyber Law at the Luiss Guido Carli Law School, he taught Cyber Law at the Federico II University of Naples, Criminal Law of Computer Sciences at Luiss Guido Carli University and at the G. D'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at Telma Telematica University of Rome.

Secretary General of the National Association of Computer Science Teachers, he writes about digital crime issues in the Key4biz online newspaper. He is the author of many publications including “Theory and Practice in the interpretation of the digital crime” (Giuffrè, Milan, 1997), one of the first monographs written in Italy in the field of digital crimes.
