With the Budget Law for 2017, as of 01.01.2017 a prize of 800 Euros to the birth or adoption of a child has been awarded.

 The requirements, set out in the budget law and further specified in the INPS circular, concern, at first, the possession of the state of Italian or European citizenship (the non European citizens who are in possession of the status of political refugee and subsidiary protection are considered equivalent to the Italian citizens according with art. 27 of Legislative Decree no. 251/2007), residence in Italy and, for non-EU citizens, EU residence permit.

The bonus can be obtained only if one of the following events occurred, starting from 01/01/2017: birth, occurred before the beginning of the eighth month of pregnancy, adoption of a child (national or international) arranged by final judgment, or pre-adoptive custody (national or international), fulfillment of the seventh month of pregnancy.

As specified by INPS, the benefit is granted in a lump sum, per event (pregnancy or childbirth, adoption or fostering), regardless of the children born or adopted / entrusted simultaneously. Apparently so it will be granted an allowance of 800 € in case of twin births, notwithstanding with someone's hope to have the sum doubled.
